CiviCRM and Joomla

Speaker(s):
Nic Wistreich

To its fans, Joomla is the 'goldilocks CMS' sitting somewhere between the user-friendliness and command-line-free space of Wordpress and the substantial enterprise-level power of Drupal, while to its detractors it's the worst of both worlds. CiviCRM works with all three and this session explores how it works with Joomla, the second most popular CMS by usage.

This sessions aims to look at what Joomla offers, how CiviCRM integrates with it and Brian Shaughnessy's CiviAuthenticate plugin. It will also give space for any other Joomla/Civi users to introduce their sites, questions or issues.

Nic Wistreich, a designer and implementer, has been building sites with Joomla since it was Mambo in 2005, and using it with CiviCRM since 2009 for three membership-charity Joomla sites: the World Association for Person Centred and Experiential Psychotherpay and Counselling, the British Association for the Person Centered Approach, and Person Centered Therapy Scotland. He also works with – and is a fan of – Wordpress and Drupal, depending on the circumstances. Through Circle Interactive, Nic designed the Green Party member's Drupal/Civi website, and Healthwatch's Wordpress/Civi theme, and, with Circle's Andrew Walker, a custom-CiviCRM skin for Healthwatch's central interface.
